FISCAL AGENT

Helping facilitate donations for local non-profits

CMCF serves as fiscal agent for more than a dozen local community organizations, including several Neighborhood Response Groups (NRGs) as well as organizations including the Corte Madera Town Band, the Beautification Committee and others.

A fiscal agent is an established IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that agrees to accept donations on behalf of a group that does not have its own IRS tax exemption. A nonprofit acting as a fiscal agent must make sure those funds are used strictly for the sponsored group's charitable work, keep records proving that funds are used for tax-exempt purposes, and ensure that funds are used in a manner that furthers the fiscal agent's own mission.

If you would like more information for your Corte Madera-based community organization, please contact Larry Reed, Co-Treasurer of CMCF, via our Contact form and mark the Fiscal Agent check box.
