Fireworks
For many years, Corte Madera’s 4th of July celebration featured a fireworks display at Town Park near the duck pond, before the children’s playground was built there. In those days, a big crowd always gathered at the park to watch the fireworks. Then, in the late 1960s, the annual fireworks show was moved to the Corte Madera marsh, where it could be viewed from many parts of town.
After the marsh was designated as the Corte Madera Ecological Reserve in the 1970s, fireworks were not allowed until the town’s Centennial Celebration in 2016, when permission was obtained for a grand, old-fashioned fireworks show launched from one of the dikes.
